FINANCE: The Australian sharemarket is on track to shrug off the worst effects of volatile
international markets and post its fifth successive annual gain. Internet company LibertyOne
expects to list on the Australian Stock Exchange next Monday after formally closing its $40
million initial public offering. A breakaway taxi company has started in Perth, aiming to
attrack drivers dissatisfied with the service provided by the two major operators.
SPORT: Greg Chalmers, the man who stands on the wrong side of a golf ball, found all the
right answers to be crowned Australian Open champion (Adelaide).
